You can unlearn a profession from your skills tab (the hotkey is k). To do so, click on the appropriate profession, and in the bottom part of the panel is a tiny icon that when moused over will tell you it lets you unlearn your profession. Be sure you really want to unlearn a profession; Blizzard will not undo it if you change your mind!

Can confirm it works in WoW Classic! Here is what i did: 1. I went Engineering till 240 including Gnomish-Enginerring to build the Items i want. 2. Unlearned Engineering altogether (Press C then Skills then the Profession u want to unlearn then the red thing) 3. Reskill your Profession too 200 (not sure about that, i did 225 just in case) 4.

Press it, and you’ll unlearn it instantly. But what happens then? As a developer, a note to WOW developers…any restrictions on features that are disliked by “gamers”, “customers” cause these to go elsewhere for their fun. The job of a developer is to keep customers not alienate them. The restriction on changing professions is an unnecessary restriction that lowers the fun factor for players.

Looking up online for Vanilla WoW Profession guides will often give you lead to how to level them from 1-300, rarely covering them as an overview or slightly more in depth. The purpose of this guide is to help new and returning to Vanilla WoW Classic when it comes out this summer, choose the skills that suit their needs.

This is something I just noticed, but in Classic you can’t unlearn secondary skills like first aid, fishing, cooking, etc. I know you could back in Vanilla, and for years afterwards. Seems a strange change. I know people will say there’s no need to unlearn secondary professions, since you can get them all. I’m just pointing out this isn’t authentic to how it was back then. Vanilla WoW had a big impact on me during very formative years, and it’s always held a special place in my heart.

The profession unlearn icon. You may unlearn a profession and start a new one but this removes the chosen profession. If you were to learn it again, you would have to start leveling it from a skill level of 1 again. You will also forget any recipes you may have acquired in your old profession, so they must be reacquired if you take it up again.
